Who we are
Clare Beams is the author of the novels The Garden and The Illness Lesson (Doubleday) both New York Times Editors’ Choices, and the story collection We Show What We Have Learned (Lookout Books) which won the Bard Fiction Prize. Her short fiction has appeared in One Story, Conjunctions, Ecotone, McSweeney's, and elsewhere. She teaches in the MFA programs at the University of Pittsburgh and Randolph College.
John Fried is the author novel The Martin Chronicles (Grand Central Publishing). His short fiction has appeared in The Gettysburg Review, North American Review, and Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art and elsewhere. Prior to teaching, he was a magazine writer and editor in New York, and his work appeared in many publications, including The New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, and New York. He teaches creative writing at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
Irina Reyn is the author of three novels What Happened to Anna K. (Touchstone/Simon & Schuster), The Imperial Wife (St. Martin's Press) and Mother Country (St. Martin's Press). Her short fiction and criticism has appeared in One Story, Ploughshares, Tin House, Bennington Review, and The New York Times Book Review. She teaches fiction writing in the University of Pittsburgh's Writing Program.
